Llangollen Fringe Festival 2026

📍 Llangollen, Denbighshire
Llangollen Fringe returns for ten days of music, comedy, art, workshops, spoken word and live performances across Llangollen. The 2026 line-up includes a mixture of established and emerging artists, with performances taking place at the Town Hall and other venues around the town.
A great one to add to the calendar if you’re looking for live music and cultural events in North Wales this September.
Snowdonia Sea2Sky

📍 Barmouth, Gwynedd
For those looking for an outdoor challenge, Snowdonia Sea2Sky takes place from Barmouth with several trail distances available, including 12km, 25km and 54km routes through the surrounding landscape.
Caernarfon Half Marathon
📅 6 September 2026
📍 Caernarfon, Gwynedd
The Caernarfon Half Marathon returns on Sunday 6 September, with the race starting and finishing next to Caernarfon Castle. The scenic route takes runners around the local area before returning to one of North Wales’ most recognisable landmarks.
Dragon’s Back Race
📅 7–12 September 2026
📍 Starting at Conwy Castle
One of the most impressive sporting events taking place in North Wales this September is the Dragon’s Back Race.
The six-day, 380km mountain race begins at Conwy Castle before competitors make their way along the mountainous spine of Wales towards Cardiff. Even if you’re not taking part, the start at Conwy is an opportunity to see competitors begin an incredible endurance challenge.
North Wales International Music Festival

📍 St Asaph Cathedral, Denbighshire
The North Wales International Music Festival returns to St Asaph Cathedral from 10–19 September.
The theme for 2026 is Macrocosm: Music and Conservation, with a programme exploring the relationship between music and the natural world. The festival opens with Sir Bryn Terfel and continues with performances throughout September.
Llangollen Railway – 50 Years Finale
📅 12–13 September 2026
📍 Llangollen & Corwen Railway
Llangollen and Corwen Railway will conclude its 50th anniversary celebrations with a special weekend on 12 and 13 September.
The event includes an intensive timetable of steam trains, diesel locomotives and heritage railcars, alongside exhibitions, shed tours, afternoon tea services and opportunities to discover more about the railway’s history.
Open Doors Events in North Wales
September is also Open Doors month in Wales, giving visitors opportunities to explore historic buildings, landmarks and locations — with many offering special access, free entry or guided tours.

Mold Food & Drink Festival 2026
Mold Food & Drink Festival

📍 Mold, Flintshire
One of the biggest food events in North Wales this September, the Mold Food & Drink Festival returns for another weekend celebrating local and national food and drink.
Expect more than 100 traders, street food, Welsh produce, artisan drinks, chef demonstrations, live music and entertainment.
The celebrations begin with a Friday evening event on 18 September, followed by the main festival weekend on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September.
Meet the Household at Plas Mawr

Head to historic Plas Mawr in Conwy on Saturday 19 September for Cadw’s Meet the Household event.
Run the Beat
📅 19 September 2026, 5:30pm–9pm
📍 Queensway Stadium, Wrexham
Wrexham’s first Run the Beat takes place at Queensway Stadium in support of Nightingale House Hospice.
Rather than a traditional race, participants can walk, run or dance around the track while listening to music through wireless headphones, creating a giant silent disco running experience.
Tristan & Yseult

📍 Theatr Clwyd, Mold
The award-winning production Tristan & Yseult comes to Theatr Clwyd towards the end of September, with performances running from 22–26 September.
Conwy Culture Centre – Open Doors
